Big stuff in !Cache

While checking to see if I had something in !Boot, I saw the Find function spent 99% of its time ploughing through a directory in !Cache containing thousands of Netsurf files. A random sampling suggests that every file is dated 22nd September. Is that normal? Can I delete them? |

Yes. NetSurf should now correctly expire its cache, as set in its Choices, I believe. The cache can easily be huge, reflecting the hugeness of modern sites. |

Okay thanks, now deleted. Usually, clicking on “Quiet” results in a selected directory instantly disappearing; but that took so long I went to the kitchen, made myself a drink, came back, and drank it. |

Without also clicking on ‘Faster’ the directory viewer is redrawn after each delete this can be very slow with directories containing lots of files. |

Perhaps the Filer could auto-Faster if there are more than n files to be deleted (or the process so far has taken more than n seconds)? |

I already have the Filer’s default speed set to “Faster”. The deletion didn’t take so long because it was set to “Slower”, it took so long because Netsurf left a bloody huge mess. |
