Intenet connection

How do I go about setting this up? I know WiFi doesn’t work but I got a:

Which is a wireless to LAN adapter. I was poking around the setting in !boot under Network but couldn’t find anything that helped.

Using this guide I get to the point where it is looking, but failing. During the steps am I supposed to put in the router attached to my cable modem, or the one attached to the Pi?

Not something I do myself, but others have.

top right of the forum page is a search box, put tp-link into that and then follow the threads that are listed.
TP-link in client mode is one working configuration.

In general I’d say it probably works OK with this sort of arrangement:
Manually assigned static IP on the Pi and a matching one on the wired port on the tp-link. Wireless on the tp-link as DHCP
Usual rules, set the gateway on the Pi as the IP on the tp-link and ensure the subnet masks match, make sure the IP range in use on the wired side is different to the wireless side. e.g. 192.168.1.0/24 on the wired and 192.168.2.0/24 on the wireless (assuming the wireless router is handing out IP’s in the 192.168.2.0/24 block.

I’ll try it out. I got it to the point it’s looking, then times out. So I’m close.

Still not working.

Under interfaces I have the IP of the Pi same as IP of the TPLink. Netmask 255.255.255.0. Obtain IP manually. Gateway is the Gateway IP of main wireless router. I have the TP set up in client mode connected (I think) to my wireless router. But it’s not working.

I dunno, I wouldn’t be surprised if I just have a setting wrong, never done much networking.
