Is there supposed to be two “do,ffc” files in this folder It looks like an updated version was saved with the wrong case. |

reading the contents it looks like all the files there – make and do were removed by Mr. Sprowson about 5 months ago. i.e. It’s a ghost. |

The attic is a special place in CVS that’s used to store files which don’t exist in the trunk (including files which were deleted from trunk). As far as the client is concerned the attic doesn’t exist, it’s just an artefact of how the server stores the database on disc. But some web viewers (including this one) default to showing the Attic as a folder rather than representing the files in another way. http://www.network-theory.co.uk/docs/cvsmanual/Attic.html There are two do,ffc files there because the CVS server is running on a case-sensitive filesystem. So from CVS’s perspective it’s correct for both those files to be there. And it’s also correct for both to appear in the CVS tarball, considering it’s a raw copy of the on-disc database structure. But from our perspective it looks like it was a mistake for Do,ffc to have been added – do,ffc came first, and there was a period of about a year where both files were in CVS at the same time before the problem was corrected and Do,ffc was removed. During that time it would have been a bit unpredictable which version of ‘do’ you’d be left with after transferring the files to a RISC OS machine. |

I was working on the premise that the content of the files left behind is actually a message about what happened – the do file is elsewhere (with “X” etc) |

I thought all trunks were stored in the attic! Well they are in most Agatha Christie novels:-) |

The attic is a total mystery to me, I’m sure there’s live code in some of them due the trunks. |
