Where do we report how software runs with 'ZeroPain' OS?

I can’t find a ROOL subforum where software running with the latest ‘ZeroPain’ OS is discussed. Where are we supposed to report the contents of the Zero Pain log file and which applications don’t run? My experience so far on my Pandaboard is as follows. RISCOSM won’t run. Some that run. but produce entries in the ZeroPain file are: |

While it is useful to have a record here of software known to work/fail, the best place to report your findings is to the author of the relevant software. Zap – read this message: https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/11/topics/3436#posts-44799 Might be fixed. ;-) Organiser, NetFetch and Messenger are part of NutPi, I’d expect them to be fixed soonish. For the “seems to work” list – I don’t recall seeing any problems from WebJames (no php version) or Hearsay. Uhh… We probably ought to report the software version numbers too… ;-) |

Are you sure there is a problem with CPUTmpMon? I am running a version here, admittedly modified so it interacts with CPUClock to provide automatic temperature control of the cpu by reducing the cpu speed when the cpu temperature exceeds a threshold, but there has never been a zeropain entry, and I can see nothing obvious in the source that would read/write from zero page. (I will get around to releasing these new versions soon, otherwise summer and excessive temperatures will be a thing of the past.) You need to differentiate between the task that was last started or was paged in, and the code that is actually causing the problem. |

Probably, a false alarm. Problem seems to be in Reporter. The entries are: Location: Offset 00002f54 in module Reporter |

Is that a typo? As in should there be something between “Utilities.” and “RunImage” ? As to Reporter, Martin reported elsewhere that he had been working on problems with Reporter etc. You may want to contact him and offer to test his latest versions of software you currently have. |

I can’t have copied the line correctly. That line should be: I have just checked Martin’s website and the version of Reporter I am running, V2.67a, is the latest. It may be practical to contact authors of software if there are only a few programs that either don’t run or produce entries in the ZeroPain log file, but my experience so far is that there are a lot. And we have been told to expect a lot. Isn’t it easier to have a central place to report and the developers can go there to see whether their software appears? |

I don’t know why some of my last post is red with a line through it. It’s meant to be black and read, not red and unread. |

Here, it’s black with a line through it. |

Possibly, however see Martins post mentioning small problems |

Textile interprets text between two minus signs as being scored through, and your text had one minus sign before ‘quit’ and another minus sign in your smiley, hence the text between those two is shown as being scored through. Your browser might interpret that as being shown in red too. |

Textile is a pain at times. What you want is this:
Which does this:
The <notextile> … </notextile> trick is very useful for when Textile does the most braindead thing possible. |

The obvious problem is fixed in r3350 — although the limited bug report above means that David and I might not be thinking of the same problem (or even version of Locate)… |

RiscOSM and House of Cards have been updated and all known ZeroPain problems fixed. But please report any further problems in our software direct to us, as now that the obvious issues have been dealt with the log extract is the most valuable thing to have. The trouble with ZeroPain errors is that unless you test every possible bit of the application you cannot be certain they are all gone. So please make sure you are running the latest version and report any problems that appear. Otherwise they may not get fixed. We’ll try to do our part by fixing things promptly and putting the new versions up! |
