!USBinfo and weird errors

I’ve recently found a wonderful utility named !USBinfo (available for free here). Either on previous (2015-09-09) and current (2015-09-18) ROMs I’m getting weird errors.

Some examples:

Internal error: abort on data transfer at &20369684

Internal error: abort on instruction fetch at &2ED0D0D4

Internal error: abort on data transfer at &2031DC74

First two appeared while copying stuff to filecore formatted USB flash drive, last one appears every reboot (so I have to disconnect Raspberry Pi from power and connect again). All of these freeze computer to unrecoverable state.

What’s wrong? SD card dying (very unlikely, it’s brand new)? Something wrong with beta ROMs? Some super-weird incompatibility in !USBinfo?

There you go, you answered your own question :)

USBInfo is a bit elderly, frankly I’d be surprised if it didn’t have problems.

Try the pre-zero pain image I sent previously (2015-07-02) and see if anything fails.

That solved problem for !USBinfo but now !SafeStore is broken (“SafeStore has suffered a fatal error and cannot continue” when trying to run a FTP backup job).

But you now know some element of the USBInfo application has a zero page problem.

Since it plays sounds at certain points you could try trimming down the run so that those don’t occur and see if that eliminates the problem. Trying to narrow down which bit is causing the errors…

This works as expected on all ROMs I have (2015-07-02, 09-09 and 09-18).

edit: both !USBinfo and !SafeStore seem to work on 2015-09-19 rom but I have to kill this module manually (got !Verma for that) before reboot or system will experience hard freeze (as mentioned in first post).

I’ve enabled ZeroPain once again, those files might help.

Another post because I’ve found a fix for now.

1. get your copy of !PreShut
2. install it (move to Apps, then add to autorun)
3. start !PreShut
4. write an obey file containing “*RMKill USBInfo” as one and only line
5. instant profit, now it reboots without any errors

The version in USBInfo is 4.14.
I think 4.15 came with the DDE (DDE24) there’s probably a more recent version with the most recent DDE.

On which, would it be a good idea to include such library items in the downloads?
Then everyone can be encouraged to use the latest fixed versions.

Edit: ABCLibrary 4.15 – !Sid says it has non-32-bit content. If that’s right it won’t help.
The zeropain log entries could well be uninitialised parameters on calls to ABCLibrary
