MIDI support status

I’d like to use my Roland MT 120s (maybe D-110 too) with !DigitalCD for MIDI files hardware-based playback but obviously there’s no MIDI sockets on Raspberry Pi. Is there any support for MIDI interfaces connected via USB (unfortunately I don’t have any right now but sooner or later I’ll have to buy at least one)? |

Sysex are not yet supported, but yes, there is a Midi module for USB interfaces. Rick Murray made it. It works very well, even with crappy interfaces. |

Thanks, David. Module here: http://www.heyrick.co.uk/random/usbmidi_003_alpha8.zip If you have one of those cheap $5 interfaces, and you find it losing data, try: SYS "MIDI_Options", -1, 1 |

Right now I don’t have any but I’m willing to buy one or two of them (single-socket for playback on RISC OS and multi socket for rest of my gear and another computer). Could you please recommend me single-socket interface for RISC OS? TIA |

You’re welcome :)

Unfortunately, local availability of this product is poor :-( are ESI brand products as good as this (those are widely available in here)? |

It’s very easy to find one on eBay (from another country, but with acceptable postal fees). Else, almost every 5$ device will work, but you’ll need to use the ‘crappy interface’ option (not a big deal). |
