random failures

From time to time (every 2-3 weeks or so) my RISC OS instance on Raspberry Pi B+ breaks. I’ve tried everything: changed microSD cards, moved between 5.21 (RC14 ROM) and 5.23 (nightly ROMs), sophisticated backup-and-restore tactics… nothing helps. From time to time, always after reboot RISC OS starts without picking up IP address via DHCP (it’s configured to do so) and with default screen settings (ignoring 1024×768 set in config.txt on FAT32 boot partition and via system settings). If it fails like this there’s no RAM drive too (but it’s visible as configured and activated in system settings) and pendrive isn’t mounted (32Gb filecore formatted). This time even weirder thing happened: !Verma (which sits in my startup sequence) doesn’t start (“Application may have gone wrong” error with “Internal error: abort on data transfer at &00019DF0” justification). I’ve had similar problems with !USBInfo (OS freeze on reboot, similar data transfer error – solved by removing module before reboot using 3rd party app). Another thing broke during this crash: I can’t permanently set screen type (Philips 109E preset since it’s closest to connected one – Philips 150B5 LCD) and properties (colours, resolution, frame rate) because of “Failed to open <PreDesk$Configure> for writing” error. Is there any other way to fix it than reimage SD card and enroll the backup every time? |
