MPro no longer working with gmail?

Hi all, Around a year ago (I think) I bought a copy of MPro (v 7.06). This worked well with my gmail account for the first few months when I was using it. Returning to RISC OS again it seems it’s no longer working – with google returning a log-on error via the MPro application. I have read elsewhere about google updating their SSL certificates, so suspect this might be where the problem lies. Looking the !Store, I can see the version has crept up to 7.08. Has that fixed things? |

I had a similar experience with the Mac version of MPro. In that case Google declared MPro to be insufficiently up to date & recommended using Google product. An alternative was to change Gmail settings to allow a less secure connection. Afraid I can’t remember the actual error dialogue. |

Thank you for the helpful replies. Will have a look at c.s.a thread. Good to know something is in the works. |

I have a comparable problem with my t-online account in DE. I must load the secure module and configure a SSL/TLS connection. |

To hopefully focus this better, I believe Fred’s answer is most accurate/relevant, since I think Stevyn was using IMAP mode. I helped someone else with IMAP and gmail this summer, so unless the problem is very recent, all should be well. Certainly I was able to get RISC OS Mpro talking to gmail, which then laid the foundations for assisting the customer who was running the Win version. As Fred says, Google now have some kind of “sercurity level” setting, which defaults to high security and won’t let 3rd party email clients in. This comes up as an error during login, as far as I remember. The link leads to a gmail web page where you can set “low security” mode to allow in 3rd party clients. Enabling this allowed normal connection via Mpro (and other email clients – I think one of the MS ones was also failing). If you don’t get it sorted, please email me, and I’ll do further testing at this end, to make sure all is still OK, but it certainly was back in (I think) August. |

Many thanks Andrew. Will give that a try. |
