Getting online with BT Infinity

I am dealing with the static IP issue with my BT Infinity home hub, it will not allow me on without DHCP and having to set the network gateway manually does not work, this is the error i get even though it is correct Machine startup has not completed successfully ‘Route add net default: gateway 192.168.1.254: Network is unreachable’ Is there a reason DHCP isn’t fully implemented yet? Any help would be appreciated |

This is a frequently encountered problem and has been well covered before. I think you need the gateway address blank for DHCP to work. But that doesn’t always work. The solution to this should be simple and well explained but I always struggle. I’ll let others more familiar with networking to deal with this. |

I don’t understand why you’re having a problem. I use mostly static IP addressing with my Infinity Home Hub. It is not possible for a hub to disbar you for not using DHCP. |

Are you sure that the Home Hub is on 192.168.1.254? |

64 bytes from 192.168.1.254: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=5.225 ms On my main machine just so you know i am not confused heh, i have had the same issue with a Sky router before but never resolved it and all the posts i have read elsewhere just tell me to enable DHCP but i am guessing this is all RISC OS does now since i cannot define myself like i used to in RISC OS 4, really stumped here and i did try what you suggested Chris Hall before i posted but thanks :) |

just flashed a new image to another card and it worked instantly, i notice in the stock boot it has a DHCP over USB statement that mine doesn’t perform anymore since static, time to find out how to get that reenabled |

So to close this post with a result, if this happens do try another SD card with a current image before blaming the OS :) In this case replacing !Boot.Choices.Internet with the default was all that was actually needed to regain DHCP |
