Pi Zero and ROO queries.

Hi, 1) I see from another thread that for the zero you require a special update file on top of the SD card image. Is this still a requirement or do the latest beta rom downloads supersede the update and config file settings? 2) When I bought the zero I didn’t notice it had no audio jack and the easiest way for audio is through the hdmi. Does ROO support both audio/video over hdmi? 3) Has anyone here tried the Rii Ultra Slim K12 keyboard with ROO? It’s made by the same manufacturer and uses the same wireless technology as the keyboard CJE sell for the Pi but I’ve only found people using it with Linux in my searches/should it be okay? I haven’t bought it but it’s a better size for me compared to others out there. Thanks. |

It’s just a case of updating the standard Raspberry Pi firmware to the latest version. Not sure if this has been updated in the RC14 image, but I always replace them just in case. On RISC OS, you need to view the RAW files to download them properly.
Out of the box! It’s set up to do this.
The problem is, it doesn’t have a Break key, which is kind of fundamental in using RISC OS. You can map another key to be Break, but it’s a faff, and the keyboard isn’t that great. Also, the lack of a middle mouse press option (without using WinMenu or some such) on some versions of the keyboard makes it a bit cumbersome to use. |

Hi, Also in what way is the keyboard not that great? Dropped inputs/bad connectivity or…? In truth the only reason I was looking at that keyboard is because it had an inbuilt touchpad which I’m after and the dimensions were just right for me (not too big, not too small) so if you have any recommendations I’m happy to hear them. |

I struggle to type anything more than the odd word on the keyboard as the keys are really quite small. I have a Trust Tacto, which has a built-in trackpad. It’s nice to type on, but is quite a bit bigger than the Rii. The advantage is it has both a Break key AND a middle mouse button – that was the selling point for me. You have to get the right one, though, as some newer versions don’t have the middle mouse button. I have the 18291, which has a £ sign and is the standard UK layout. Your needs may vary on the layout, though, so look for different versions. Only complaint I have is, if you leave it alone for a while, you have to press Esc to bring it back to life. Luckily, the Escape doesn’t register with the computer. |

I hate when you get deceptive photos that are zoomed in. It’s like the time I bought an on off switch only for it to arrive and be 1mm square :D http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61BTExjX-RL.SX522.jpg It looks so large and well laid out in the photo that I thought it was close to being a half-sized keys keyboard like some of the laptops/netbooks use. |

I can confirm that this keyboard works fine with RISC OS, I ahve been using it for some time (months) It just works! I do have the KeyMapper module with: *keymap 113 114 to swap the mouse buttons round. I didn’t think of the break key! (Very annoying without it!) |
