ROOL documentation on RPi port

Should not the ROOL documentation be updated to reflect the more recent versions of the Raspberry Pi? The section RISC OS target hardware documentation needs to distinguish between versions 1, 2 and 3 of the Raspberry Pi. |

It is a wiki – I don’t think anyone would object if you were to update it. |

When you edit or save? I can get to the editor but haven’t tried saving. |

When saving. Ah! Just noticed big pink banner on the ROOL documentation page. I need Javascript to edit. Sorry for the noise. |

I have included a caveat about ARMv8 and UnixLib. HTH. |

I was about to post a thread about an illegal instruction error with !GCC and !PDF on RPi3. I suspect that little addendum about UnixLib has everything to do with it. It doesn’t really seem worthwhile now, because they both seem to fall apart calling constructors in UnixLib. |

Those examples do highlight the issue and are significant issues. My caveat referred to above was a trifle mild, I really did not want to say that at the moment the RPi3 may not be a suitable choice for RISC OS but actually that might be true for some users. OTOH with what it does do the RPi3 does offer a very pleasing performance boost over the RPi2. There has been progress, NetSurf and PackMan have been fixed, and there are fixed versions of Otter-browser and Qupzilla. This GCCSDK commit looks interesting. |
