Has anyone here tried !DosBox (or fast) on the newer machines – if so – how does it work out? |

I have play around with DosBox and FastDosBox. But the latest machine I try was a RPi B+ and a PandaES more than one year ago, I think. I newer try on ARMX6 ans IGEPv5 but I can do next few days if you have a interest. Both (DosBox and Fast) are save there settings inside. You find infos in the helpfile. FastDosBox use the “Linuxway”, DosBox is a bit different. If you use both there are any side effects if the filer see one of them before you start the other ;-) I have a working Win95 version. Very slow on RPi, faster on PandaES. Win95 works only from a HDImage. The limit is 2GB. DOS works also from a “Folder device”. DOSCommander… GeoWorks… (The DOS Screenshots are very old. 5.17 on my BeagleBoard.) … etc. are also working. |

https://www.heyrick.co.uk/blog/index.php?diary=20140808 Windows 3.11 on a basic Pi (full instructions, howto…). Then… https://www.heyrick.co.uk/blog/index.php?diary=20140809 in which we try to make the screen better than 640×480 VGA until we realise how hard that hits (in basic benchmarks). Note that FastDOSbox (and likely DOSbox) are limited in not supporting SHARE.EXE functions, so under Win 3 you can’t run MSWord, VB3, anything “complicated”. Might fare better with W95 but I can’t imagine how tediously slow it would be… |

Just install MS-DOS on it. There are several caveats with FastDosBox: |

Hmm – this has bought a few things to light. First using the Emulator – the ‘conf’ file is being saved in (!UnixHome.home). And also a config for ‘the train prog’ which had stopped working. Back to the DosBox – how do you change the keys for fullscreen? same as RS. Asking perhaps too much for DoxBox to run Windows at speed. Have a Win prog – ‘CWCom’ that decodes Morse code and receives/sends via a remote server – anyone here Is it possible under Windows – to find out what is sent/received from a server? [update] Is it possible for DosBox to open a DOS Harddisc file? |

It’s possible with FastDosBox (but not with DosBox). |
