Postscript

Does the Postscript driver works normally on most printers? Here on a Brother MFC (PS3 compatible), I have only blank pages. I tried also with Gutenprint: same result. |

The standard PS printer driver is a PS2 implementation. The PS3 implementation is only available as a paid addition from Mr. Wurthner – you have Gutenprint so I guess you have the PS3 driver. 1 OK, call me weird but debugging the output from a system by sending to a file and reading it in a text editor having memorized a fair subset of the escape codes was what was needed so I did it. |

If that’s weird, call me weird too. |

Same technique as examining PCL output – shove it to a file and check the content. Print something very simple (text) Remember, PS is just a page description in very verbose form. |

A PostScript 3 printer should accept data in PostScript 2 format. Using a Windows PC set it to print to file and for each language print something like “AAAAAABBBBBBBBCCCCCCCCCCC”! Then examine the printout. |

Are you sure it’s a PS or PCL enabled printer? I’ve had a Brother laser printer here which only spat out blank pages until I discovered it was a cheap GDI printer and not PCL or PS compatible. |

This one is PS3 printer. No GDI. No cheap either :) |
