Using/Testing EDID as it stands

Hi all,

I have recently-ish updated my Pi firmware and RISC OS ROM (about ten days ago). I thought I would try the EDID support. Am i right in thinking that the data decode and the MDF creation is the total that is available now? The Configure ScreenSetup tool seems to have no idea!

I left all that on Auto and made an obey file (!!EDID) in PreDesk which simply states:

ReadEDID
WimpMode X1920 Y1080 etc.

And I find I can select any desktop mode and get a nice picture.

So what is there seems good, but am i missing anything? Is this how others are using it?

Ah, yes. I suppose if I had just let it write the MDF to disk, then Configure would have worked as normal. Mind you, my theory was that if EDID can be detected during boot, then the Pi becomes more portable/automatic with config.

I did the RAMFS thing. Does that rely on the Loader DOSDisc and SDCMOS still for writes? I assume so.
