How do you regain control when a buggy program causes a hang?

Sorry if this has been answered already.
I’m working on a Basic program right now and occasionally I mess up in such a way that it hangs with no way of exiting – for example, an ON ERROR statement with no ‘END’ in it, so Escape no longer lets you exit.

Is there some kind of key combination that forces basic to quit, and lets you return to the desktop? As it is right now all I know how to do is press Shift+break to reboot. I’ve done some google searches but haven’t managed to find an answer.

Alt-Break usually does it.

I usually get this when there’s an error in my error handler, which invokes the error handler and thus causes an infinite loop.

Excellent, I was able to get out of one of those situations just now by using alt+break. Thanks very much, Dave.
