Double take

Glancing through some of today’s El Reg articles, I opened this one: Army Watchkeeper drone flopped into tree because crew were gazing backwards, in which this image is embedded. I had to do a double take when I saw it because, while it obviously isn’t the RISC OS desktop, look at the textures and the buttons – including yellow for one. I wonder what it’s actually running on? |

It reminds me of a number of DOS-based applications, and in particular the Hewlett Packard J2300 protocol analyser from the mid/late 1990s. |

Yes – there is something we have on our machines at work, QuickWin or somesuch? It isn’t Windows, it’s just supposed to provide a lightweight UI that is sort of similar in behaviour. Are the buttons actually textured, or is it just a really horrible photo? Edit: hmm, it’s not QuickWin I’m thinking of… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QuickWin |
