Wish I never got up...

I went in to work to find one of my cow-orkers had suffered an accident with the nasty chemicals. So being a Good Guy I volunteered to replace her once I’d done my morning round. Then came home to find Nou dead. He was old and, I suspect, a mixture of declining health and having waited four lunar months for mom to come back home. As I said on my calendar video today, I expected it to happen but then I expected mom to die after having seen her…it doesn’t make it any better or easier. So, comfort food it is tonight. |

Sorry to hear this, old fiend – I’ll confidently call you that even though I’ve never met you. |

Chris wants to know why you would name a cat after two portions of cat food1.
Wawa gets Dreamies? 1 We were taught by our old cat Moet that it’s proper name is “Waaaaaaaaa” – the length of the aaaa sound is variable, the volume has to be the best that vocal cords can manage |

Wawa, as in short for Konnichiwa, as in….. I came up with the name (gee, ya think?!) Yes, mom now has somebody to boss her around. As for me? Well Wawa will soon be in heat (because of all the fur, she starts months earlier than normal cats) so… Yeah… I’ll know about it. Constantly. And loudly.
Strange. Elsie (Nou’s progenitor) was the complete opposite. Go outside and yell for her, she’d likely not show up. Go outside and whisper her name, she’d show up if she felt like it. PS: I have no idea what cat food is called in the UK, so sorry Chris, I didn’t get it. |

I lost my favourite cat to cancer a couple of weeks ago. I don’t actually have any cats, but my wife does. There was a time few years ago when the house population was thirteen – excluding the humans! But Amber was the only one that ever really got to me in that way. My wife used to breed pedigree British Shorthairs, so I saw Amber from the moment she was born up until a couple of hours before she was put to sleep. |

Sorry to hear of your loss. Our cat, who is not all that old, 14 years maybe, has started having strokes. He goes round and round, always deasil, as if confused by his tail. He generally recovers within a few minutes; that is quicker than my late neighbour, who had quite a few. Mind you, the cat does not drink whisky. He does not seem to suffer any pain during his strokes, but I think he loses vision in his left eye, which would explain why his circumambulations are always clockwise. |

Nou was 16. Which is basically prehistoric old when it comes to outdoor cats around here (larger creasures, other cats, cars, hunters… their usual lifespan is 2-3 years; though some cats have rather more luck (hi John!)). Some photos: https://heyrick.eu/blog/index.php?diary=20200122 |

Looks like the same stuff, marketed with Franglais.
Ah, now to take that a little further you need butter and a section of a baguette for the chips. Red or brown sauce to taste. |
