Just had to laugh when my wife arrived back from a trip to the shops. She’d been into Waitrose for some provisions for the coming week and picked up a couple of treats – one being a couple of pots of Tiramisu. I was looking at the receipt to see how much of my money she’d spent when I saw the entry for them listed as ESS WR TIRAMISU (Essential Waitrose Tiramisu)! What’s next – Emergency Shiraz? |

Wine – yep. Essential part of my five-a-day. At the Co-op last week I noticed not a single bottle had been sold of one Californian red: “The Reckoning”! Complete with grim reaper image. |

Probably something stupid like “classify everything we’re running low on as essential so it can qualify for being restocked”. It seems that in the midst of this crisis, beaurocrats are having a positively orgasmic time devising all sorts of bizarre rules. And the justification? One doesn’t need to even mention it these days. |

Not really. “Essential Waitrose” is the W&P “budget” own-brand; see also “Tesco Value” and whatever the other supermarkets use. So Grahame has simply acquired some cheap and cheerful1 Tiramisu. 1 In as much as anything from Waitrose can be considered “cheap and cheerful”. |

I suspect the anti-alcohol brigade might be suggesting that five bottles a day is tad too much. On which note I think I could justify Chimay red, Chimay white and Chimay blue as three of my five – do note there is a bigger vitamin count in live beer than any wine. |

So, I’m just about to start watching Edge of Fear (random choice) on Netflix. As the beginning of the movie plays, various captions of organisations involved in the production appear along the bottom of the screen. Beijing Cultural Appropriation Board (I made that one up). Beijing Soy Sauce Bear Cartoon Culture Co. Ltd What? |

Five a day? Pah. Six a day is easy! Chips, ketchup, baked beans, chocolate, jam doughnut, and coffee. Or potato, tomato, haricot bean, cocoa bean, raspberry, and coffee bean… ;-) |
