Mark Colton - 25th Anniversary

August 5th 2020 is the twenty-fifth anniversary of Mark Colton’s tragic death in a racing accident.

I hope that you will join with me in raising a glass of something this evening to remember Mark.

For the newbies here, Mark was the author of the VIEW family (on the BBC Micro), PipeDream (on the Z88, DOS and RISC OS) and Fireworkz.

Pipedream (2, maybe 3?) was one of the first two programs we bought for our A3000. I still remember a quite convoluted process of copying discs and having to install some patches that came with RISC OS, I think. Crikey, its over 30 years ago. I’ll be honest though, The “z”-apps always gelled with me better than Pipedream did – I think because I felt empowered by their more modern (for the time) approach, and the exciting idea of the different programs expanding on each other.
