Thereby hangs the tale of my Hindi, which is probably about as good as the Spanish in the first post or maybe even worse (but it gets me by, and even gets me compliments in India, where the attitude to foreigners speaking Hindi is somewhat different from the English attitude to foreigners speaking English). |
