!65Host .

Way back I asked if it would be possible to include this in RISC OS Open. Apparently someone has found the old sources for the RISC OS 2 era version: https://www.4corn.co.uk/articles/65hostandmos/ Anyone here willing to consider taking a look at this again? (Assuming licensing issues can be resolved). |

The 6502 emulators ought to have been part of the RISC OS source tree that ended up with ROOL, but evidently weren’t, or had been excised by RISC OS 3.5. Whether this was because nobody at Acorn could spare the time then to keep them maintained, I don’t know. Tim did some more work after I left to update 65Host for sound and to improve screen access speed – there was an updated 65Host released with RISC OS 2.01. I think 65Host is just of historical interest, there are far more accurate emulations of a BBC Micro out there. |

Sweet! A proper version of the BBC MOS (rather than a disassembly). Now, if anybody happens to have the sources to an E01S FileStore kicking around – you know my email, right?
I think by the era of the RiscPC, Acorn had wanted to minimise/lose the association with the older 8 bit family. So what was a nice solid emulator just kind of faded away, and consequently others stepped up to keep the 6502 world alive.
Can’t help but wonder what else has been lost along the way… |
