The beginning of the links above and below the page is “Forums”. Shouldn’t that be “Fora”? |

I regard myself as somewhat of a pedant, but this reminds me of my wife’s OU essay in which she used “curriculums” coming back “corrected” to curricula by her supervisor. It, like “forum”, has been an English word for long enough to have an anglicised plural form. But don’t get me started on “data”! |

Fowler’s Modern English Usage (Revised Third Edition, 1998) gives the plural as “forums”. My copy of the Concise Oxford Dictionary doesn’t list a plural. As this is the Concise Oxford Dictionary, the obvious inference is that the plural should be formed in the English fashion (i.e. “forums”). If you were referring specifically to some ancient Roman meeting places, then “fora” (the Latin plural) would presumably be acceptable. |

Haec sententia constat inter omnes, apud me. Odiosa nimis latinitas. |

I tend currently (when working, for example, with my French class colleagues, to put “foreign” words in italics, so an ordinary “forum” would pluralise as “forums”, where forum might well become fora on that principle! |

Google translate makes of this: This is the opinion agreed upon by everyone, at my house. Costas too odious. I tend to avoid coffee when out, as any hint of freeze-dried gives my tummy gyp! |

Costas? Seriously? In a Latin translation? <facepalm> This is what happens when you give coffee stupid fake Italian-ish names. |

You can’t drink beer/wine; I can’t drink anything related to “instant”! Let’s just call the “calling it” it off “off”! Google it yourself! |
