Hello from Europe in 2021. Hope this one’s better than the last… |

I’ve decided that I’m re-doing 2020 again as the last one was defective. I will continue to order repeats of 2020 until I get one that I like. |

Well, it ended better than it started, for me personally at least. Hoping for a better next solar cycle, whether you are doing a re-run or catching the sequel! |

Wait, what? Damn, man, doing 2020 over and over is some hardcore torture.
Well, there is the aspect of “Introverts rule! Yay!”. |

Now the UK has caught up with Europe. :-p Anyway, going to sleep now, will wake up, this never happened, it’ll be 2019 and mom will still be alive so I can say all the things I wanted to say, and when I’m done with that I can warn everybody about what’s going to happen in 2020…at least, until I get locked in an asylum in a comfy padded room and fed pretty coloured pills. Maybe cerulean ones? Yup. Sounds like a plan. Night all. |

I will continue to order repeats of 2020 Well, I demanded a full refund, so I can go and get a shiny new 2021 with a 365-day guarantee. Overnight delivery, full installation. Maybe. |

Everybody here on the forum a good 2021 and lets hope we can make new nice things for RISCOS and keep the old Acorn machines running |

I wish everyone on this forum a Happy New Year ! In the hope that 2021 will be much better as 2020. And a big ‘Thank you’ to everyone working on Risc Os to make everything better and better. |

Oh joy. -3.7°C and it’s not even midnight. I’ve turned the tap on (low) so the pump should kick in every once in a while. Don’t need that freezing. But, yeah, hello, it’s 2021, can somebody stick a coin in the meter so we can get some better weather? ;-) [forecast for Monday is plenty of snow, that’ll be fun in a 350kg toy car…at least I have an excuse for going slow!] |

How many driven wheels? |
Rick Murray (539) 13806 posts |
Two, at the front, from a CVT. |

You will probably glide past the manager’s BMW that’s in the ditch. |

Two years ago when we last had a bit of snow, there was a steep uphill left hander on the way home. All the FWD cars just managed to bump their way around, wheels spinning and sliding in to the gutter. I was in the wife’s RWD beamer, so used a bit of right foot and glided though the middle of the road with the tail out. A dab of of oppo and we were away. |

Winter tyres are your friends. In snow a few years ago back to back tests with a fwd MG on winter tyres and 4wd Audi on summer tyres proved this – Audi wheel spinning on polished snow MG cutting into snow. Oh and stopping distance MUCH shorter, |

Wheel spinning – too much torque for the conditions. Too much torque is not something Rick is going to have to deal with. |
Rick Murray (539) 13806 posts |
That’s about it, yes. No matter how much torque the little two cylinder 300cc engine is capable of producing, that power has to make it through the two variable pulleys that make up the transmission. To the point where I can be doing 48kph on the flat, dropping down to around 42kph going up a steepish hill, even when accelerating slightly. For those who don’t know the setup, this is a good video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XK9Dj1i398 |

I’ve been enjoying the genuine fun to be had with a RWD car on distinctly summer tyres of late. Temps have dropped enough now for me to put the winters on! |

You’re specifying an incomplete date, that’s why. ;-) starlte:/ $ ping 20201231 starlte:/ $ It is valid, but there’s nothing there. A metaphor, perhaps? |

And a perfect response for leftpondian date format! :-) starlte:/ $ ping 31122020 starlte:/ $ ping 12312020 |
