Load-up with rubber bullets!

As I write Trump has apparently called in the National Guard to control the protesters he has personally incited to storm the Capitol building. So that’ll end well, then! One couldn’t make it up! The really sad thing is that it brands about half of the US population as loonies! Judge for yourself which half! |

A loser trying to overturn a democratic election. These are not the actions of patriots. They are insurrectionists attempting to stage a coup because the election didn’t go their way. They are traitors and must be treated as such. [personally, I believe that Trump is well aware that he lost, and is now on a mission to break as much as possible before the secret service forcibly eject him from the building (that I’d like to see)] |

“Shots fired” John… I don’t think the police or National guard are using soft(ish) bouncy stuff. BTW. Check the info for Giuliani making stronger comments as a “warm up” for Trump. Now there’s a good candidate for an orange uniform. |

Tosh. As Rick said they lost, and this just shows they think they can hang on with ‘trial by combat’ |

Wrong, wrong, and wrong again. (you’re partly right on the “not a state” distinction, this National Guard answers only to the President himself) |

Yep and both sides are doing it (Dems using Antifa and the other one, and Repubs using no gangs). Now, if you keep quoting yourself we will just charge you double on your word count.
Really? Must be another National Guard that was called and reported by multiple news media.
But sits in one and no doubt can call upon the services of theirs, or as Rick has noted have their own |

Well, somebody has to look after the lawmakers. |

Maybe today, as our honourary American, David might like to suspend his word count in order to respond to commentary on what is a I mean, WTactualF is going on? |

Yeah, I think this might have broken my mother’s heart, had she been around to see this. |

The school yard bully1 and his cronies are close to having to leave the scene or stand still for an orange suit fitting. So, being a bit worried they are trying to get as many friends as possible to remove their problem. BTW Rick, do you ever wonder how you can bring up so much documented fact about the USA while living in France and someone living in the USA doesn’t know it? 1 Every time I see Trump, and this goes back to pre-President days, I am reminded of the blond-haired (and not too bright) bully in Back to the Future. |

And was a response made? Does he favour insurrection and sedition, or the rule of law? Is he on the loonie or the sane side of things? |

Something definitely missing – ah yes, tax fraud. Oh, and sexual assault. |

I was, of course, referring to DavidS, not the president.
You may be on dodgy ground there, in the light of my clarification! |

“Leader of the Free World!” What a total misappropriation of language! |

Guns, guns, and guns akimbo – massively more than anything else. Official source:
Stop watching Fox News! You have one side trying to change the election, and the other side trying to keep the election legitimate. |

I know some Republicans can’t accept the defeat and want to reverse the result. |

Citation needed. From a reputable source. (Ricks citation is the FBI) |

Question 1: Do you know about the police doing “selfies” with invaders of the building? Question 2: How about the footage of police letting the invaders in? Question 3: Why did the Secret Service do a house cleaning exercise and remove Trump supporters from the protection detain for Biden? Brought in senior staff as replacements that served on his protection detail back when he was VP. |

Trump mode on full then? Saying it multiple times doesn’t make it true
It’s a linked citation. Care to do the same? our democrocy would … Not sure who you’re quoting or why |

Yes, the FBI is reputable. Kansas City Missouri PD lists guns (broken into gun types) which add up to vastly more than anything else. Maine – of 22 incidents, nine are gun related. And so on… Note: PD and gov sites. No news feeds, aggregators, conspiracy sites, or social media crap. Actual documented reports by the entities concerned. |

The way the BBC described this is that the local police were completely overwhelmed and had no idea of how to handle this. After all, it was us (Brits) that were the last lot to storm the government buildings back in… Certainly I can’t imagine anybody actually expected Americans to storm their own government – those sorts of things only happen in shithole banana republics, right? I’m not aware of the selfies part, but that might be an attempt to try to keep things about as civil as possible. When you have a group of people known to be armed meeting an inadequate (in this circumstance) police force, things could get very ugly very quickly. Instead, it looks like only one person ended up being shot. Suffice to say, this’ll have a lot of repercussions. Not just for the insurrectionists and Trump, but also in the larger picture of security of the house, and the much larger picture of how to deal with a supposed leader spouting such utter crap (something like 60 court cases so far, not one of which has been successful, and calling a senator to ask him to find some extra votes). If there is supposed to be a set of checks and balances in the system, how did things get to where they went today? |

That’s slightly different phrasing than George W. Bush used, but he did use the term banana republic. Didn’t mention Trump by name, but when mentioning incitement and insurrection at the Capitol there is a list of people, with Trump at the very top. Reportedly, Trump did not send in the National Guard – it was Pence. The guy finally stood up. |

Trump – outright lies. I suspect he lies to himself.
Substitute “Trump and supporters” for the word “people” and you have it right. Biden – we need to work together Rest of the world – when is this tosser getting thrown out? |
