How stable is France Germany Spain Italy – will Rick get a vote if France wants to leave? |

Slightly deficient on the “Bank of Scotland” front.
Stretched point there.
Mostly.
Not least in the minor detail that when the Union of the thrones occurred the first king to park their bum on the throne was actually a scot and the scots have been whingeing since. That bit bewilders me. |

That, and the massive over representation of Scottish MPs in parliament, leading to the almost 1 in 5 Prime Ministers being Scottish, and the massive additional public spending they get per head compared to majority of population of UK, really shouldn’t be anything whinge about. But for some the hatred of the English means they would rather become independent and then give it all away to be a tiny vassal state in the EU, taking orders and handouts from Brussels, which for the geographically challenged is further away from Edinburgh than London. |

Rick, I’m afraid you wont be getting a vote on Scottish independence Neither will anyone else unless the British government permits a referendum to take place. There is no guarantee that such a referendum would be limited to those who live in Scotland. |

To raise some cash – they would have at least Two ports – for rent – one big country would like a base with connection with the Atlantic – not meaning Germany. |

Anyway enough of the north of the border tail wagging the dog, how about France’s latest tantrum? |

British news: Wah, France is being unreasonable. From what little I understand of the article in the paper that I barely bothered looking at, the WA is supposed to permit a certain number of fishing boats into the water. Something like 380? The British have given permits to sixty-something and said “that’s your lot”. |

We certainly do. France which is a stickler for rules when they apply to other people (such as UK imports) are now upset when some rules apply to them (fishing licenses for Jersey territorial waters). So they blockade the island and threaten to turn off power – reasonable? |

About as reasonable as the last time (what was that, a mere few months ago?) when you guys threatened to send the navy to blow the Frenchies out of the water. I would like to believe the the Brits don’t intend massacring fishermen and the French don’t seriously intend to try to switch off an entire island, that this is all basically each side playing to their peanut gallery. |

So… I’ve had a pint and thus feel I’m impervious to hornets… What do the people of Jersey actually think of this? I guess they have some press of their own? |
