Screen scaling (for Vince)

My Pi is fixed to output 1280×1024 to my monitor, and the GPU is set to rescale. Escape Exeria works fine. RISC OS thinks it is running at FullHD, the monitor sees what it can handle. BTW, I’ll wave my hand in the air and say I’m the one who sucks so much at playing games that I asked for it to have a slowdown option… |

Two questions – what does the T-shirt say? And… Skulls? TheF?!? 8-) |

Yes, I know the Pi can do that – but ISTR reading (or being informed) that a default RISC OS installation these days bypasses that, so for most ordinary users if the Pi isn’t connected to a screen capable of displaying 1920×1080 then it’s not an available mode. And I’ve just realised that I can try that out for myself to find out if I’m remembering correctly or not – most of my screens are 1080p, but I do have an old HD ready (i.e. 720p) TV gathering dust in my bedroom. I’ll plug something into that later and see what happens. (Assuming it still works. It hasn’t been powered up for quite some time – probably close to a decade!) The T-shirt. Something along the lines of “Algorithm. Noun. A word used by programmers when they don’t want to explain what they’ve done.” Skulls? Why not? :) On the shelf next to them there’s also a goblet, which will probably become something to collect. Not sure if I’ll use the spare fingers that are sitting in it. ;) |

It turns out that the TV sort of works (the display looks like an old analogue TV badly tuned) – but it also turns out that it’s not HD ready. It’s full HD. So that test didn’t work. :/ |
