…some review on the ARM slides here …and surprisingly I can still see the 32 Bit here on that slide :-) …there’s hope ;-) …I wonder why they still keep it ? Some server software compatibility !? |

Probably because they can, in case it is needed for some sort of compatibility. Just because the design mentions 32 bit doesn’t mean anybody is going to waste the silicon on actually making a processor with 32 bit inside. |

And even if they do – they might view the amount of silicon involved as trivial – will it provide any mode other than User in 32-bit? And using the beastie to run RISCOS would be a bit like having a Tesla car sitting in the drive that you only use to power your electric toothbrush. |

…as using/coding RISC OS comes close to a kind of railway modelling hobby anyway I wouldn’t mind playing with the fastest Shinkansen that we can get :-) |

Even if the only parts of the system we can actually access are the public address and the lighting? |

…as the RISC OS Linux port did run well on the Neoverse N1 I’m still optimistic at least in that respect…and I’m happy with a single track railway, who needs parallel railways ;-) |

By the time we get to the V2/N3, there will be enough cores on a single chip to run a cloud instance of RISC OS for every remaining RISC OS user, and bloody quickly too! |

From the reports on the safety, it’s probably more socially responsible using it to power your toothbrush than using it on the roads. |

Damn sure it is! Electric cars aren’t all that much more environmentally friendly than diesel or petrol models anyway – they produce almost as much particulate pollution as modern diesels or petrol vehicles. From their tyres…okay, if your energy source is entirely wind, sun, wave and tide then they do produce no carbon dioxide (and worth remembering that diesels are far better than petrol in this respect) and while battery manufacture is not environmentally benign, it’s not as bad as fossil fuels. Damning with faint praise there though… |

What say you on the subject of bio-fuels? |
