Bluetooth Ear piece

Can you use Bluetooth Ear pieces for sound from a Mobile Phone Radio Prog? Or from a TV Bluetooth Audio output? Ie for the hard of hearing. Don’t seem to see anything about it on the Web. How is the Bluetooth output going on ARM RISC OS? |

Speaking for Android, as long as the earpiece supports the usual audio profile (same as speakers, headphones, and so on) then it will work with anything that doesn’t try to be stupid and block Bluetooth “because of rights”. I’ve just tried Netflix (Castlevania) and Prime Video (Emergence) and they both play to my speaker. It may, however, depend upon what I’m watching rather than what I watch with? Audio on Android is usually split into media audio and phone audio, the difference here being that phone audio usually implies a two way communication (so I can shout at my speaker and that will be passed back to the caller). You can configure devices to be connected to one or the other or (default) both. I would imagine that iThingies are similar. My iPad worked with Bluetooth headphones, as expected. No call facilities as it was not a phone…
I don’t believe you even tried.
When it comes to audio, it probably isn’t. I’ve just looked in the developer options, and my speaker only supports SBC 44.1kHz 16 bit stereo. Setting anything else results in a small amount of silence before reverting. To work with audio devices, RISC OS will need to support not only a Bluetooth stack, but also capturing audio data and converting it to at least SBC… It’s probably more realistic to hope for keyboards and mice first, because audio is complicated, and that’s before we ever consider such things as DRM. |

Hmm – Bluetooth earpiece works for calls – but doesn’t for phone FM radio output – from what you said two different sound outputs! No option in radio prog for diverting to Bluetooth. Just wired phones / Speaker. The idea here for one who is – |

That’s because FM radio requires the headset cable as an aerial. |

Yup – the lead is the aerial. |

If the sound would pass output to the Bluetooth earpiece – next try out TV in shop. There are adaptors that plug into phono output socket – plus Wall wart or USB for power. Sort of sound to Bluetooth devices. |
