Well, I know Tennessee is trying to bring back the old tradition of book burning1, but I didn’t know they had beheading available. 1 Is that one or two banjos I hear? |

Tennessee is kinda weird, after all it is “deep south” (just) and “bible belt”. It’s also an execution state, though poison needles and auditioning for the role of Crank are more their style. But, anyway, wrong direction. ;) |

Interestingly “Getflix”, which is enough for iPlayer, ITV etc. is not sufficient to get around BNF’s block. It’s good to learn about UK Proxy; thanks!
Fair enough. Speaking of iPlayer, it’s quite slow when accessed from NZ; TCP overheads and all that (I imagine that the downloads on my own site are probably a little bit painful from the UK too!). It’s less frustrating if you use get_iplayer and then play the local copies, although get_iplayer itself is, of course, also slow. This led a friend to pop onto the get_iplayer forum and ask whether there was any way of speeding it up. He got a terse response back saying that you’re not allowed to use it outside the UK. Quoting my friend as best as I can recall, “I thought that was a bit rich, considering that the whole point of get_iplayer is to work around BBC’s restrictions in the first place!” |
