I’m aware of Northumbrian Pipes. But not “English” ones as such. I’m now wondering if there are Cornish Pipes… |

Jim I think you have the wrong sort of pipe in mind. It is more likely it refers to a reed pipe. “Their lean and fleshy songs Grate on their scrannel Pipes of wretched straw…. …” |

Ah. I was confusing it with “Piping Hot” as in Cornish Pasties. :-) FWIW one of my co-workers decades ago was in the Vale of Atholl pipe band. I think they won the World Championship at the time. On a couple of occasions he played the pipes in our lab when we got a big contract or grant. |
