In another life, I did lights for Erasure at what was then Leicester Poly, and Vince Clarke was using a BBC Micro as a sequencer..

I was listening to some Erasure just the other night and thinking to myself how some of the lyrics are scarily prophetic.

I look at what’s going on in the world, the economy and such, and I think of “The Two Ring Circus”.
I look at the London riots, and then the <cough>religious issues</cough> and I think of “Crown Of Thorns”.
The continuing social decay brings to mind “Phantom Bride”.

And “When I Needed You (Melancholic Mix)” – best damn Erasure song EVER (though “Piano Song” is pretty heavy duty for the duo that did “Oh L’Amour!”).

[And my English teacher told me it was bad form to begin a sentence with “and”. And I can’t recall ever paying much attention to her…]

Yup, a UMI2B. This post suggests he was the only remaining user of the UMI for the last ten of the seventeen years he used it for!

Here’s a UMI3S doing its stuff while someone noodles on what at first sight appeared to be a Tesco synthesiser! (Teisco is a Kawai brand)
