I think I’m just going to give up on El Reg now. It’s been a good sixteen odd years, but given the number of cultists who jump on any reporting of the mess that DOGE is doing to the country’s various institutions (not to mention making a total mockery of security protocols), the situation in reality is hopeless and the situation on the forums is toxic. I have neither time nor inclination to continue with that.

For us, on this side of the ocean, I think we all ought to be looking at damage limitation, especially in those places where American influence is going to dry up leaving who knows what to start making their mark. A bit of togetherness and less petty infighting might also be useful as a show of solidarity against the populists? But it’ll need an iron clad counterargument that can be expressed as simply as possible.
