Pandaboard overheating

Seems the temperature sensor lies, and the OMAP when stressed consumes a scary amount of power. Chip design issue?

Can’t see any comment about the Pandaboard temperature sensor. The only comment about temperature sensors is related to OMAP3 (IGEPv2, a design similar to BeagleBoard-xM).

Ah, I see. The Panda consumes scary amounts of power and the Beagle lies. Hmm… ;)

The article is rather miss-leading in a number of ways e.g.
“It is a known fact that it requires a PSU rated at 4A.” it then points to a recommendation to use 4A. They may well have found/thought 2Amp would not have enough spare capacity and 4Amp is the next size up generally available. We have run PandaBoards on a 2.5Amp PSU and never had a problem with it being inadequate or of overheating!
They do also note: This program tries to stress the processor, attempting to generate as much heat as possible.
