Any chance of seeing the source code to this appear at some point? I can see an entry for it in ModuleDB, so the source must be floating around somewhere :) The RTC battery in my Iyonix seems to be starting to go (and seems to be wedged into the holder far too tightly for me to be able to pull it out without destroying the motherboard), and of course my BeagleBoard is batteryless, so I have a feeling I’m going to be relying on the module quite a bit in the future. It would be nice to be able to make a few small improvements to the source (e.g. having it tell you that you’ve been using a nonexistant time server for the past 3 years!), and although I haven’t tried it on my BeagleBoard yet I wouldn’t be surprised if it falls over due to use of unaligned loads. |

The Iyonix battery has tabs spot welded to it and soldered in – that’s why you can’t pull it out of its holder (it doesn’t have one). It had a calculated design life of 10 years so I guess the leakage was higher than expected. |

That would probably explain my difficulty in removing it, yes! Without fiddling around and removing the motherboard from the case it wasn’t really possible to tell whether it was welded in or not. |
