What’s the situation with this now that ESP are no longer developing it?

ROL’s documentation on SharedSound2 also states that their v.1.07 (05 Aug 2003) includes "fixes from Robin [Watts] and Castle". I’ve contacted both Robin Watts & Andy Pierson for clarification. |

Robins Watts’s reply: The SharedSound code was written originally by Andy Pierson of ESP, possibly "for" Acorn (in that I am not sure where the copyright lies). |

Andy Pierson’s reply: ESP did indeed originate SharedSound and we took it to 1.03 and hold the original copyright on this. We also have source up to 1.06 with various changes added by Robin. We have no problem making this available but I notice from the ROL list that it has gone on to version with various contributions 1.10. ESP does not have access to the source beyond 1.06 so you would need to ontact ROL or possibly Robin to obtain this. |

So far, so good – thanks for looking into this Trevor :) |

Any progress on this? It would be nice to get something that we can run on the OMAPs |

Last I heard (around a month ago) ROOL was investigating licence terms with Andy Pierson and Robin Watts. But AIUI ROOL staff are extremely busy with their day jobs, not to mention preparations for the Wakefield show so it could be a little while yet before the sources are released. |

Did a working Arm7 SharedSound ever materialise? The 1.04 version which is the only downloadable one that I can find complains of being 26bit only :( |

Hi. We’re still chasing the sources to this. I think we’re very close – with any luck, we’ll have it published in time for Wakefield. |

A few months late, but I’m pleased to report that we have finally received permission to release SharedSound! I’ve spent this evening merging ESP’s latest sources, patching in licence headers etc, and the results are here. I’ve only had chance to do a quick test on an Iyonix so I can’t confim whether it’s ARMv7 safe. Also, there isn’t a binary to download yet, either. But since ESP has kindly agreed to use the BSD licence, it would be possible to include it in future ROM builds. |
