Modern design

I like the second splash screen because of the raised plinth (when I saw the first one on the original thread I just didn’t like it, much too flat looking for the colours used, but the plinth really adds that much needed depth). Is the sentence really needed though since if you’re using the OS in the first place you know it’s fast etc. The modern design however… Am I the only one who looked at it and thought “Puppy Linux” ? While I’m a great fan of Puppy and the UI it uses I always considered Risc OS to have a very unique looking UI and the modern design just looks (to my mind) somewhat generic and too much of a Linux clone. Of course, I may be one of the only ones who would personally want the jelly bean replaced with an acorn…......Of course a Castle (Rook) icon may look good as well and still would give a nod towards CTL. Though I gather this is just a suggested skin, and as such a “classic” skin could still be available for an old-style look. bq.Why on earth do I double-click on !Boot to configure the machine anyway?! This has been a terrible design decision since it was introduced. I’d prefer to see !Configure or !Settings appear in Apps again, and have !Boot, if double-clicked upon, do something specifically boot-related. Either that or rename !Boot to !Settings / !Configure, but that’d require changes to the filesystem’s filename requirements for auto-booting. This ties in to a degree with your updated icon bar items. I am sooooo glad I’m not the only one out there who felt like this. |
