Provide the Zero Page fixed version of DDE free to all existing purchasers

If/when DDE is fully Page Zero bug clean, it should be made available to all existing purchasers for free. Charging £25 for bug fixes doesn’t seem right. I accept additional features have probably been added and that’s where the £25 charge is being applied, but a gesture of goodwill wouldn’t go amis, considering how widespread the Page Zero bug issue is within the OS and associated software. |

I have to agree with Jon. When the 2014 version of the DDE (25) is depending on functionality that was deprecated in the 90s, then something doesn’t seem quite right. I, too, don’t mind paying for feature updates (and have even bought the printed books to support documentation updates) but I’d find it a bit cheeky to charge for a version that doesn’t use page zero. Hopefully that didn’t come across as too arrogant! :) |

I’d pretty much decided to leave things as they are until those are fixed.
I think that’s the “if you bought it in the last 6 months” price. |

I have to admit that I stumped up the 25 quid through gritted teeth! |

I think it will be a slow drawn out process, as PZ access isn’t always easy to spot by looking at the code. I’m also not convinced it’s producing fully ARMv7 compatible code, as when we updated and recompiled Elite last year, it was compiled for ARMv7 and yet doesn’t work on the Pi2 – it hangs loading. It works okay on ARMv6 in strict mode, so I suspect it’s creating deprecated code sequences.
Well that just adds insult to injury. Personally, I don’t actually understand why it’s charged for at all, we’d encourage more RISCOS development if it were free. I do however understand the need to monetise some aspects of RISCOS to cover the bills. |

No it’s a “If you have already bought a version from them it will only cost 25ukp after you’ve had it more than six months price” I should add old copies bought from castle do not qualify for the discount scheme. |

I should pay more attention.
Yeah, I don’t think the fossil value subtracts a meaningful amount from the cost :) |

You mean we can’t claim it is “r@re” and “vintage” and magically worth more because of that? You know, I’ll swap my awesome Castle era tools for the mundane ordinary ROOL latest release, and “you’re stealing from me, you really are”? ☺ |

Oh no I’ve just discovered that my old, but perfectly usable, copy of TechWriter Pro only works with low processor vectors. Zeropain fails to keep it working. Recompiling the rom with low processor vectors gets it working again. |
