Application naming (!)

I think it would make sense from a users point of view if it was an option to use ! for an application name rather than having it mandatory for the 1st character. Just makes everything looke better, and less ‘computer’ orientated for the user. nx |

Yes, I agree. I think Select/Adjust already defines an application as a directory containing a !Run file. (At least partially in that a folder without the !Run is treated like a directory, though a folder with a !Run file, but no ! is still treated like an application.) In any case, presumably there could be an end-user GUI option to just hide the !s. Adam |

Just found this: http://ian.jeffray.co.uk/riscos/dirpatch.zip It says it removes the !s (and allows custom directory sprites) – both things which could go on the list of 3rd-party-patches-which-ought-to-find-their-way-into-RISC OS list :) Adam |
