USBDevFS.h licence

Is there any chance of changing the licence of USBDevFS.h? It is the only documentation for the USB service call which reads the list of attached devices and once you have read it what is the point of rewriting it yourself. The symbols used for the usb descriptors are straight out of the USB spec so if you are rewriting it you would only use the same symbols. You could either make it part of the DDE distribution or just give it a freer licence. |

I believe that there have been legal cases where it has been agreed that setting definitions cannot be copyrighted. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. But IANAL. |

If they’re just definitions then arguably there is no other way you could write them – there is no creative content. However comments do have creative content and thus are copyrightable. If you rewrote the comments in your own words then you would own the copyright to the comments and could license those under whatever licence you chose. IANAL also. |
