Retrospective Style Guide compliance

I guess this comes under this forum, e.g. if people are proposing changes to the style/operation of components/applications. Otherwise, I s’pose it’s a Wish lists item. AIUI some work has already been done on updating to reflect the Style Guide:Obviously nobody but individual authors have control over the design of third party applications. However, I think most people agree that the OS and shipped applications should be consistent and follow the Style Guide1. There are surely many examples where relatively simple changes could be incorporated, e.g. on shutting down with data on the RAM disk there’s an “OK” button – perhaps “Lose data” or “Discard data” would be more appropriate. Consideration may also need to be given to internationalisation (what can be succinctly expressed in English may not be the case in French, to cite just one example) and also to the proposed modern design . Can anyone please suggest any other areas where minor changes could be proposed? And maybe a prioritisation list could also be compiled. What do people think? 1 Although the Guide itself acknowledged (all those years ago) that some Acorn apps did not adhere to it. Also note that the Style Guide itself is also arguably in need of an overhaul . |
