Filer module 2.16

I tried putting the Filer module 2.16 (05 Nov 2007) from all-bin-2007-11-13.zip (in Modules.Desktop) into my boot sequence. The desktop starts but filer menus have lots of stuff at the bottom, and then the machine crashes (on RO 5.13). Has anybody else experienced this?

I’m away from my machine at the moment, but IIRC I got it to work by putting it in a directory in PreDesk, and loading it from an obey file with the following:

X RMKill Filer
X RMLoad <Obey$Dir>.Filer

I’m using a RPC with RISC OS 4.02 If you try and load it from the desktop, I think you do get loads of problems like the ones you’ve described.

Okay, but have you tried it as in my example (but using FilerSA, now I’ve had a look at the obey file). Which works okay on my RPC.

Are you loading any other ROOL modules, or just the filer?

No other ROOL modules loaded. Mind you, I did change the colour of the ‘delete’ option in MT12, but I think that is irrelevant. I always use a FilerSA softload to achieve this. I would like to see such menu data loaded from Resources rather than hard-wired in the ROM.
