I tried the 24 July ROM image but found that whilst the pointer seemed to leave much less debris around, the screen only updated very slowly (like an interlaced gif does, but much more slowly). SO slow as to be unusable. Also the pointer was rather small and difficult to see. There is a note on the latest CVS log that says “Now expects a start.elf released 24/7/2012 or later for correct
display initialisation” but the latest start.elf on github is 22nd July. Help please.

The 24th July image stops at ‘no keyboard’ for me, unlike the previous image. (R-pi, two different cards.) Typing DESKTOP gets me in but it says the SD card is empty.

I will use the previous image for now.

There is some confusion here – the 24 July distro image has the same rom image as the 21 July distro (for the reasons above) and just has a few apps added and an updated ‘start.elf’ (of 22 July). There is little that should stop it working so I am puzzled…

Sorry I meant “RISCOS_Alpha_13Jul2012.img” in comparison to “RISCOS_Alpha_24Jul2012.img”.

The former booted straight to desktop without issue, the latter stalls at ‘no keyboard’ and can’t find the card contents when DESKTOP is entered manually. I posted because I didn’t know if an SD card compatibility issue had been re-introduced.

(The 13July distro also ran fine when I overwrote riscos.img on 20th July with that day’s download.)

“There is some confusion here” should be tattooed onto my forehead!

819A4954 is confirmed.

The difference between 13Jul and 21Jul/24Jul distros is very slight – both are partitioned the same and most of the boot structure is the same (just more software..). I suspect your download of 24Jul disto was corrupted. Did you check the CRC or md5sum?

Looks like a double hardware issue. Pi has started rejecting my mouse combined with something to do with my choice of cards!

Working now. :-)

Thank you. Had to be a hardware issue I suppose.
