Problem with SyncDiscs on 5.24

I’m having a problem running SyncDiscs on a Pi3 using 5.24 which doesn’t occur under 5.23: the software loads to the icon bar, and it is possible to ‘Compare’ primary and secondary directories, but when the syncing process is initiated by pressing ‘Start’, the computer hangs, necessitating a hard reset. Is this a known issue, or likely to be a problem with my particular OS installation? My version of SyncDiscs is 1.28 dated 22 December 2014, which is the latest according to the web site. |

A search of the rool forums shows htreads in 2016 where ZeroPain events are mentioned and Chris Johnson had requested people send logs to him but I don’t see any evidence of a newer version having been produced. Out of interest, running 5.23 (and presumably the ZeroPain module) does that specific sequence produce a zeropain log? The problem with FilerAction is that it doesn’t check the input parameters for combinations that would produce a zero page access event1, but then applications like SyncDiscs shouldn’t be feeding it with such combinations. 1 I believe standard OS use is from the GUI which will grey things out on the Filer thus blocking erroneous input to FilerAction. One of the consequences of a GUI centric setup where people make a lower level access and occassional zero page access events occur. |

As far as I am aware, there are no zero pain problems in SyncDiscs. Having said that, I have found a bug recently. It is triggered if you do a compare, and the two directories are the same. However, it doesn’t cause a crash as such – it just keeps reporting the directories are the same whether they are or not. I use SyncDiscs everyday (well I would, wouldn’t I) on ARMX6, IGEPv5, and Titanium. However, I do not have any RaPis to test on. This recent version will have been compiled with the latest version of DDE so should be RaPi3 friendly, I think. I could send you a recent version (unreleased) but it will put out some debug information when running. If you either contact me directly, or confirm an email address I can use, I can action that. |

George – I have sent you a test version a few minutes ago. Let me know if it works ok. |
