Iomega Zip250 drive won't eject Filecore disc

I think this may be a continuation of the “dismount” issues. However, onward… RISC OS 5.24, Raspberry Pi 3B. When using an Iomega Zip250 drive via USB, the eject button on the drive will not work if a Filecore-format disc has been accessed. There is no “Eject” option on the icon bar menu, and selecting “Dismount” from the icon bar menu makes no difference. Rebooting the Pi releases whatever lock was applied and the disc can then be ejected. DOS format discs inserted into the Zip250 drive behave themselves (i.e. the eject button works as expected). |

Not really: it reports “Cannot find the ZIP Filer module”. I think it was written for the older (parallel port?) Zip drives. In any case, having that take over the mouse right-click would make it rather awkward to access the Filecore disc in the first place. |

bummer. :-( If SCSIeject also fails then I’m out of ideas. |

No luck with SCSIeject either. It is worth noting that the – rather risky – procedure of unplugging the USB cable from the Zip250 drive and reconnecting it also allowed the disc to be ejected, so a reboot wasn’t needed every time. As it turns out I only had a handful of Filecore-format discs to access. There would have been a lot more, but for a mix-up concerning what stuff should be thrown in the skip nine years ago… Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated. |
