Stuck SHIFT key

If you find that the SHIFT key is stuck down, it can be released by SHIFT-SHIFT (i.e. by hitting both SHIFT keys together). I’ve never seen this documented but it is also the way of getting out of a ‘SHIFT-LOCK’. |

I press escape – seems to work. Or unplug and reconnect the keyboard – if the connector is nearby. |

Anyway, I suspect you should put a little context into your post. I believe you are talking about the periodic misbehaviour of the USB stack specific to the Raspberry Pi which can lead to keys getting stuck in a ‘down’ state. |

I believe you are talking about the periodic misbehaviour of the USB stack specific to the Raspberry Pi which can lead to keys getting stuck in a ‘down’ state. Not really. I have (very occasionally) noticed a ‘SHIFT LOCK’ situation on Iyonix (but so rarely that I can’t pin it down) and what I have seen on the Pi does NOT seem to be related to having previously pressed the SHIFT key. Specifically on the Pi, sometimes I’ll double click on an app only to see its directory window open but then double clicking on the !Run will cause it to run. Sometimes though just loads the !Run file into an editor. Without touching SHIFT. Mostly of course it works fine. |

Do you have ‘Double-click and hold’ (in the Filer plug-in) turned on? If so, then releasing the mouse button a bit slowly would have the same effect as holding down the Shift key. |

Brilliant! Now turned off. Many thanks. (Never heard of this before!) |

Perhaps the delay needs to be made slightly longer, to avoid people triggering it accidentally? Or maybe it’s only a problem for people who occasionally fumble their double-clicks (I think I managed to trigger this myself a couple of days ago after fumbling a double click). |

Is this an option that should perhaps be off by default on the Pi distro? The behaviour confused a veteran, so is likely to confuse newcomers all the more. Personally, I wouldn’t live without it, but that’s because I spend more time delving inside app diectories than running apps! Is the delay configurable? |

Is this an option that should perhaps be off by default on the Pi distro? I wasn’t aware it was an option, but having had a look for it, as I too have an intermittent issue with a sticky [SHIFT] on RPi, mine is set to off. If I set it and then click “Default” it returns to off. Is the delay configurable? It looks like it is from the TaskManager Menu>Configure>Filer |
