Thump, bang, crash

Thump (V 1.53 Aug 10 2015)is my first port of call for looking at images. With a couple of exceptions (PNG and TIF) it displays anything dropped on it speedily and has good customisation of thumbnail formats. The scrolling from pic to pic is smooth and zoom is also easy to use. But, there is always a but, it has one very irritating feature when running on my ARMX6 (RO 5.25). I have to find the app and run it again. Does anyone else have this experience? It is 100% reproducible and has been doing it for at least 3 years. John |

Thump does the same trick when presented with some jpeg images if you drop a directory full onto the icon, but that’s one where it doesn’t always crash on the same image. |

Have you tried a more recent version of Thump? I have version 1.56 here. I use (hammer?) Thump a lot on various native hardware, and it is fairly stable here. There are one or two issues that I can repeat so should contact Chris again. |

Thump 1.53 is the last release. The source on SVN is currently at 1.56 (a9). I have built that but as I could not reproduce the original issue cannot say if it would solve the problem. |

Right – I didn’t realise the public release was still at 1.53. Each time I reported an issue to Christopher, he sent me a new version with the issue fixed. |

Chris Martin has now updated Thump to v 1.56 A10 on his website. Thanks to Chris and all who responded to this thread |

Just tested the Viewer-Slideshow facility of v1.56 A10 on my standard directory of jpegs: the Viewer option ‘Close last after auto-step’ (which restores the desktop after the last image in a sequence has been displayed) no longer works – the final image remains on-screen. I’m running v1.56 from a fresh install i.e. a different directory to the previous v1.53. |

Thump could do with some more love on a Pi 4B with 5.28, more details to follow at a time when I shouldn’t be asleep. |
