Transfer2

“Transfer2 is a utility that lets you copy text from a file or any window in any RiscOS application, and drop it directly into any other window.”, to quote its Help file. I use it frequently when the other standard methods in RISC OS fail, e.g., copying a URL from an email or other document into the URL bar of a browser that has been ported from Linux like Iris. The field in the text transfer window of Transfer2 used to be white, but, since upgrading to RISC OS v5.27, it is now black and so the entered text can’t be seen. Another oddity which I haven’t noticed before, is that it it accepts and transfers the selected text only up to the first comma. Nothing else has changed apart from upgrading my ARMX6 to the “High vector” version of R-Comp’s 5.27. |

Given what it is doing, Transfer2 probably clashes horribly with the new Cut-and-Paste and Drag-and-Drop support in writable icons provided natively by the OS. Try quitting Transfer2, selecting the text that you want to copy, then dragging it to its destination using the new Wimp functionality. |

I have just tested a copy of text to the URL field of the Iris browser by drag-and-drop, by CTRL-C/CTRL-V and by dragging a save icon of the text, and, yes, all three work. Good! If I no longer need to resort to Transfer2 then, from a user’s angle, I can forget it. I will keep a check with other applications. |

IIRC this item also stopped working with RISC OS Adjust (which has similar wimp-based copy/paste), so it is not unexpected. |
