Why do i not have permission to delete my own posts? Seems odd to have that limitation. |

It’s a peculiarity/flaw of the system. Only a specially authorised person, a super-user, usually Dave H, has this power. You can, however, continue to edit your post ad libitum, thus effectively deleting what you wrote. You will see this happening where people accidentally double-post (easily done!), and edit their second message to this effect, sometimes adding “Please delete”. It’s a limitation that can be lived with, and any time taken to “fix” it would be time ROOL couldn’t spend developing RISC OS! |

If once there’s been a reply, deleting a post would be most impolite, possibly devious. Even editing (other than minor corrections) is rather dodgy at that point. You can edit down to zero content, then at least the fact there was a post that people replied to remains, with a record of whose post it was. Before there’s been a reply, it is a bit different. |

It does seem to be a choice over a flaw just an odd choice. The argument about deleting posts as devious is bit far fetched considering what this forum is about, i guess we can all live with it though :) |

Indeed. It’s an argument that’s common in less well-mannered forums. |

I try to avoid those at all costs! |

I thought the “Edit post” link brought up an edit window with the text in and three options below: “Save” (button) |

Yes it does. But for most people only the first two options actually work. |

Might be true for me, but I’ve never tried a delete action… |

and after a quick test on the Test forum I get the message “You do not have permission to carry out that action on this site.” SO glad I’m just a lesser being. |
