Compute Module 4

On the Lite models, the mouse pointer freezes on three start ups out of 4. The mouse position does move, just not the pointer. On the eMMc models, I understand it uses an 8 bit data bus and eMMc2 and so the on board eMMc is not ‘seen’ by RISC OS. You can’t use the SD card on the IO board as the lines are used for the eMMc. |

Also RTC is connected to a different IIC bus. |

I thought the reason for raising this on the Bugs forum (as suggested at the show) was for someone more knowledgable than me to raise a bug ticket. If so the idea has not worked. |

Just to add to the voices pushing for the Compute Module to be adopted, I can confirm Chris’s findings with the Lite models, at least. I find it difficult/impossible for the network to be initialised in the Boot sequence, but just running SetUpNet from the desktop enables it. |

This seems to have been resolved by adding a VL805 card to the PCIe slot. |

That’s good progress. What’s your setup, configuration? |

Standard 4GB lite model with WIFI, standard IO board, off-the-shelf PCIe USB card with VL805 chipset and currently a 5.29 ROM from 9th April 2021. It’s all bogstandard stuff, including the firmware. |
