Using RO 5.27. Keyboard Setup may have gone wrong. Invalid component ID (0×14) . If I click Continue the configuration page comes up but the settings do not take effect. Can anybody suggest a remedy? |

The first thing to check is that you haven’t got anything odd in the “KbdSetup” section of !Boot.Choices.Boot.Predesktop It should look something like:
The “KbdSetup” plugin itself doesn’t seem to have had any updates since 2013 so is less likely to be the source of the problem. |

Ah, that would explain why Vladimir over in https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/11/topics/16573 didn’t get Keyboard Russia after Surely we ought to have a Default country for KbdSetup that didn’t change the keyboard? That could display in the country drop-down as ‘Default [UK]’ etc. to show you what keyboard is in use. |

In my case I think the problem was down to a damaged SD-card. Keyboard Setup works fine on the ArmBook I am using now, which also has RO5.27. I seem to have a duff card-reader as well as a damaged SD-card, and that has been like a firecracker at the vicar’s teaparty. Sorry for all the noise. |
